A Must-have for educational researchers

I am working on repeated measures MANOVA. This book did a good job giving me a good idea how to do the analysis and checking the assumptions. For this part, this book can be seen as a more digestible version of what is described in the multivariate analysis books by Pitch and Stevens or Tabachnick and Fidell.

Very Short and Very Good

Excellent survey of modern microscopy. I've often wondered how all the remarkable high resolution and high magnification images are made and what their bewildering acronyms (TEM, STM, AFM, etc.) and types ( confocal, bright field, dark field, etc. ) mean.

The book consists of two main sections, light and electron microscopy, which each give a short history of the various subtypes and an explanation of how they work. The concepts of magnification, resolution and so on are explained but without any need for serious scientific background. It would however presumably help if you did know the difference between light and electrons.

As the author says in the "Further Reading" section books on microscopy are usually large text books. These are more that I would like to delve into microscopy and so this book fit my interest in getting a basic understanding of the various types of microscopy. This kind of quality science writing is a delight to read.

You are unlikely to become a qualified microscopist reading only this little book (136 pages) but you should have a better understanding and appreciation for all those great images of the microscopic world, biological, electronic and molecular, that are so common in today's media.

I would think that this would also make for an excellent supplemental reading for beginning students of any field that deals with microscopy and those are manifold these days.

Very thorough, and quite interesting. In a very short book(let) it surveys a comprehensive history, overview, and state of the art. I wish there were three times as many pages as well written and perspicuous. Like the rest of the VSI series, however, it leaves readers unsure of where to turn for more of the same.

This book is an incredible resource for people thinking about getting pregnant.

I found it very readable with a lot of important technical information presented in a way that was easy for me to understand.

Fabulous Book!

Fabulous book! I am a fertility expert and I am always looking for resources I can share with my patients. This book is highly informative, and more importantly, written in a language that is easy to understand. As more options for genetic testing become available, understanding what they are, how they work, and which might be appropriate is vital, and I find myself recommending "Baby Blueprints" to my patients on a daily basis. I also have a copy in my waiting room.

I wanted to like this but I was disappointed

I really question the other reviews. I wanted to like this but I was disappointed. The questions overall were fine but there were many mistakes and whoever proofed it did a poor job. The worst part was the rationale. They told you the correct answer but often did not tell you anything about why the others where incorrect. I understand the price is a deal but you get what you pay for.
If the publisher reads this, here are a few thought. I believe it was question 88 where the answer given and the rationale were not matching. In the answers, half the time the question will tell you it is a select all but then it often would not. Lastly, I would have to look back but somewhere around question 20 there is a duplicate question or at least very similar talking and what gives the right to delegate duties.

This subject is very important in nursing. Make sure to have this book. We will always check our basic and fundamentals in every procedure. Very concise. I got this in my kindle. Thank you

A Delightful Read

Secret Lives of Turtles and Tortoises is a delightful read. The author has had these animals as pets since 1995 and truly loves them. She takes you into her world with her beloved pets so you see them and their personalities through her eyes. Their are links to videos of the animals interspersed throughout. My favorite was the first one in which you see Jasper running into water from a hose as it is used to water plants. You can see his glee in running into and being in the water.

Secret Lives of Turtles and Tortoises is a very delightful book. Ciri Johnson has done a wonderful job at capturing personalities of each individual turtle and tortoise in her pictures.
The book is full of wonderful information and experiences. Ciri has given a view of these animals for how they really are and in a way most people don't think of them as being. These animals are truly more then we give them credit for.
I love the way the book was written along with the pictures. I can't wait to share this book with my children along with others.
I am looking forward to seeing more books by Ciri Johnson

N. Thompson Hobbs is senior research scientist at the Natural Resource Ecology Laboratory and professor in the Department of Ecosystem Science and Sustainability at Colorado State University. I love this series of books. I believe I bought almost all of them. They are easy read chapter books for school aged children. My eight year old reads with ease. Good information and he loves to tell all about what he read.

A great traveling Tour of Whales and their lives!

I enjoyed this tour about all the whales, what the eat, where they live, how big,strong, how they live and also how many each whale species have,etc. I recommend this ebook for kids young and old who would like to know more about the creatures God had made. She had some very good photos as well so for these reasons I feel like this book needs five stars. I received this ebook for free and in return have given it an honest review. Great work Michelle!
