A good resource

I am a math teacher and was interested to review this book. I always like adding to materials I can learn from and add strategies I can use when teaching. I did find a few of the descriptions as a little wordy at times and I did not like that the answer were right after the questions. I always feel that when they are right there you are less likely to try and figure out the answers. Some visuals were used in the discriptions such as diapgrams and number lines which I liked. It started low and worked its way up. Personally I would use this with other resources that provide methods etc. such as videos that would offer additional supports. This is a great refresh and point of reference however I would not use this as my only source. Over all this is a nice book with examples and sample problems.

This book is complete, thorough, and a very good work book. It doesn't take anything for granted, like many math books I've tried to use in the past have - like (and I've had math teachers tell me this), "Well, this is just something you should know."
It offers (as stated on the book's back cover) all topics broken down into lessons, practice problems, step-by-step example problems and free online access to more practice problems.
The history of numbers is told (it's an interesting section) in the clear, plain language that is used throughout the entire book. It covers addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and continues on to more difficult mathematics. The book explains why things are done, not just how. I think it is very much worth the price and I'm keeping it in my library for a reference book.

Great resource for parents

This is a good resource for a parent or parents with children in school that are going to have to help with homework and suddenly
discover that they can't remember any of the math that their child is learning.
I really needed to read this book after looking at my grandson's math homework and realizing it was confusing to me,
I thought to myself that I needed a refresher course in math in order to be able to help him, and then this book just happened
to come along, with perfect timing.
It takes you step by step through the math you should have learned and you have probably forgotten like me : )
I think it is a great resource to have on hand to brush up on math when the old brain cells get rusty again.
